SDC24 Korea – What’s New in Tizen 9.0?
Time Interval: 00:00:00 ~ 00:22:39
- New Pen Drawing Engine – Penwave : Introduced in Tizen 9.0, Penwave is a vector-based drawing engine featuring infinite canvas, brush tools, and highlighting. It delivers smooth, natural lines using GPU acceleration, reducing CPU load by 23% and memory usage by 51%. AI-based event prediction improves responsiveness by 56%.
- AI Avatar Framework : This framework enables the creation of expressive conversational avatars through voice recognition, emotion analysis, and lip-sync. It supports flexible integration with external AI solutions and offers an immersive user experience by reflecting emotions in real-time.
- Unified Memory Profiler : A powerful new tool that analyzes both native and managed memory simultaneously. Offers real-time memory monitoring, event tracking, and GC event visualization, empowering developers to optimize apps with minimal performance overhead.
- Android on Tizen : An innovative container solution allows Android apps to run on Tizen without modification. GPU, multimedia, and connectivity backends are unified for optimal performance. Integrated package managers and launchers make Android apps feel native in the Tizen environment.
- Lightweight Web Engines : To support web services on resource-limited devices, Tizen developed its own engines: LWE (browsing), Escargot (JS), and Walrus (WebAssembly). These engines use half the memory of Chrome and offer over 5x performance with JIT compiler integration.
- RISC-V Architecture Support : Tizen now supports the open-source RISC-V architecture for native, web, and .NET apps. Samsung led the development of a RISC-V JIT compiler for the .NET runtime, achieving 999+ unit test pass rate and optimizing app startup time by 60%.
